ACQUA MATER & THE UN GLOBAL COMPACT

Patricia Furtado delved into the 8 Millennium Development Goals and the principles of the UN Global Compact in 2006 while working with Corporate Social Responsibility. After founding Acqua Mater, she promptly embraced the initiatives of the UN Global Compact Brazil, actively participating in the Water & Ocean Action Platform since 2019.

In 2021, Acqua Mater became a signatory of the UN Global Compact, and Patricia Furtado was recognized as an "Impact Professional" of the UN Global Compact Brazil.

In 2022, Acqua Mater got involved in three projects coordinated by the UN Global Compact Brazil: "Blue Keepers"; the "Water Resilience Pact"; the "+ Water Movement". Then it became a signatory of the "Sustainable Ocean Principles", an initiative of the Ocean Stewardship Coalition of the UN Global Compact.

Establishing connections between the SDGs, particularly SDGs 6, 14, and 17, holds paramount significance in preventing waste from reaching the sea, and Acqua Mater faces this challenge with consistency and commitment. Bringing the OCEAN agenda to the corporate environment is a watchword today!

Acqua Mater and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Acqua Mater promotes the advance of all 17 Sustainable Development Goals outlined in the UN's 2030 Agenda, focusing on the synergies between SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and acknowledging their significant interplay with SDG 13 (Climate Action). This comprehensive approach is facilitated by the integration of SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships).

As a result, these five SDGs are central to Acqua Mater's overall strategy.
